With a simple asparagus dish a dry crisp Loire white - Sauvignon or Chenin Blanc or dry crisp rosé is ideal.

With a rich sauce you need something fuller. A Cheonceaux Blanc works well,  or a white from the South

With a strong cheese sauce or chargrilled asparagus try a light Red.
