Domaine de La Chaise, Touraine Chenonceaux Blanc AOP 2020 12.5%
A rich full wine with exotic fruit flavours, mineral notes and an impressive length.
In 2011 the vignerons of the Cher Valley obtained approval for the new “Cru” of the Loire. Coming only from the best vineyard sites the white is produced entirely from Sauvignon Blanc. But it is no ordinary Sauvignon. Matured for an extended period on the lees the wine is full, rich and complex with hints of apricot, peach and white flowers and an exquisite length. Particularly good with smoked salmon.
This is what The Wine Gang had to say about the 2014 vintage "A 100% Sauvignon from the Chenonceaux district of Touraine, and one with a degree of extra richness and interest from extended time in contact with the lees, but which retains a delightful racy quality to go with its burst of juicy citrus and passion fruit flavours, some stony minerals adding refreshment to the long refined finish. Goes with: Fish and Seafood, Goat's cheese, Pork and other white meats. Salads and vegetable dishes."
