Who likes the sun?

In the Languedoc this week the tourists are loving it. The vignerons are suffering. It hasn't rained properly for months. The vines are stressed. Grapes lack juice and aren't ripening as they should . Harvesting of whites has started - it has to or the wines will lack freshness. Yields look like being down by a third. Wine will be short but there will be some great concentrated wines.

My trip wen't really well. I bought some wonderful Chateau Montfin Cuvée Margot 2014. A lovely barrel-aged Syrah, with delightful sweet fruit flavours and real complexity. And put in place some exciting new projects. Watch this space!
