Collioure is a beautiful old fishing village situated where the pyrenees come to the sea. Beautiful! It’s very well worth a visit, However in July and August it becomes one huge traffic jam – go out of season
The village gives its name to an Appellation. There are some good wines, but it’s always struck we that they are a little over-priced. Maybe that’s because of the summer tourists who stock up on their holidays. If you go inland you find some wonderful wines at more reasonable prices. If you’re in the area let us know and we can arrange a visit to Domaine Trilles. If you like really full red wines with character these are for you
The small hotel of Le Relais de Chartreuse, just inland at Le Boulou is delightful. quiet, relaxed. The set meal offered with a reasonably priced selection of local wines has always been fantastic
